Very cool cover

Just checked out the upcoming releases...you have selected a very cool cover for 2320AD.

I was just wondering, however, are the artists who do incredibly photo realistic covers eg. Honorverse books (Weber) or Trading In Danger (Moon) too expensive for Quicklink. As I would disagree with Kaladorn and I do believe that art sells me on a sourcebook when it has the Traveller name behind it.

David Mattingly who does the Honor Harrington novel covers did the Traveller's Handbook cover. We also bought a modified version of his Shadow of Saganami cover for the HH RPG book.

Artists of this caliber are VERY expensive, even when dealing with second rights. Not something I am willing to do very often.

As for the 2320AD cover, thanks! Ted Lindsey is doing that one and unfortunately the thumbnail that you see really doesn't do it justice. When we have a final version of the cover ready I will post it.

July-August, or thereabouts. That release date is not set in stone, though.

Thanks. I stopped by this thread for that very answer.
Another 4/4 stars for the cover.

Ted does really good stuff. Release date is looking more likely for August-ish now.

Yeah, but it's in the Moot... When 2320AD Lite becomes available, it'll have this cover as well.

Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone!

The final version of the cover thumbnail and logotype have been updated on the 2320AD section of the site.

You'll probably have to force your browser to reload the images to get the updated versions. (Ctrl-Click on the Reload button of your browser)

Sigg: Yes. The logo is sort of metallic with an arc through it like the curve of a planet's horizon. I wanted the arc to be reminiscent of the horizontal line and blue/yellow horizon style of the original logo but with an updated look. I hope you like it.

another nice piece of artwork, ted.

BTW, are you planning on adding anything to your site any time soon? i'm one of the people who would like to see more of your work. :D

Sigg: Thanks! Speaking of seeing it in the shops, Hunter just posted an image I created that shows what the final book will look like. It's on the 2320AD product page.

ElHombre: I haven't been able to update the site in quite a while but I hope to do so in the next few weeks. Thanks for being interested in my work.

Wow! I never thought I'd say this but... That cover makes me want to play the game. I really want to see inside that book =)

Hi, I'm Tom Peters, one of the original visual designers of Traveller: 2300 (ships, mostly).
I was really happy to see Ted involved in the new game. He's got a great practical design aesthetic!

He's produced a beauty of a cover, and I'm hopeful he'll be very involved in the design of a great new set of ships and vehicles.(and characters, too)

Great stuff, Ted!

I really liked your stuff in 2300. All your ships had a great 'feel' to them. Ted does great stuff, too, and we'll be seeing more of his work in the interior art. Most of the starship art is being done by Laurent Esmiol, though. He does very good work as well, and some samples of his prior work can be found at the Etranger website. Most of the ships in the articles on that page were done by him. The rest of the Etranger website is well-worth checking out as well, and Laurent has a couple more images there, too.
