I did a mission where they had been inserted as military police investigators to handle minor crime investigations on a combined Imperial military base.
Their real mission was to find out why women were disappearing and the base command and the serious crimies investigators were not treating it as a problem.
Things went on, and through their real ID cards they had to take control of a patrol shift of MPs (8 Marines) and save the most recent victim and gather evidence.
Several officers were thanked for their service and retired after the base XO had an accident and died.
That was the only time they had actual "follow me, you do this, you do that in 10 minutes" charge of NPCs.
