My father won a Military Medal for carrying out and leading to safety two half-sections of wounded men under a massive artillery barrage. A few years back a SAS soldier here in New Zealand got the Victoria Cross for carrying a wounded comrade 70m to safety under fire (in Afghanistan not NZ
). Other people did same and got nothing. I guess it comes down to how the officer recommending the decoration or not writes it up. Can't see it being any different in the far future.
