What Type Of Player Are You?

Not surprisingly I'm a Storyteller.

It explains why I haven't done anything other than run games for decades and get easily bored as a player. But sometimes I yearn for the simpler days of just bashing orcs and enjoying the spoils...

Never thought of it, yet you nailed it. This is how I feel.

But I admit, that I am very surprised by the result of the test. At least I am quite happy that it is quite well balanced after all ...

You Scored as Storyteller

The Storyteller is in it for the plot: the sense of mystery and the fun of participating in a narrative that has the satisfying arc of a good book or movie. He enjoys interacting with well-defined NPCs, even preferring antagonists who have genuine motivations and personality to mere monsters. To the Storyteller, the greatest reward of the game is participating in a compelling story with interesting and unpredictable plot threads, in which his actions and those of his fellow characters determine the resolution. With apologies to Robin Laws.

The results did not surprise me

You Scored as Character Player
The Character Player enjoys creating in-depth characters with distinct and rich personalities. He identifies closely with his characters, feeling detached from the game if he doesn’t. He takes creative pride in exploring different characters, often making each new one radically different than others he’s played. The Character Player bases his decisions on his character's psychology first and foremost. He may view rules as a necessary evil at best, preferring sessions in which the dice never come out of their bags. For the Character Player, the greatest reward comes from experiencing the game from the emotional perspective of an interesting character.

No surprises there, except a Specialist tends to play the same type of characters... I haven't noticed that as a significant trait of mine - unless anyone here disagrees?

Why do these add up to more than 100%? What do they signify?

Icosa, each element is on a 0-100% scale. All the points from the questions add up on different scales to give that percentage, then it's all mashed together to see "what you are".

The quiz actually asked me a tiebreaker question. Apparently, my drive to blow **** up is evenly tempered with my desire to play a role. And it's true, the whole "leveling up" process is my least favorite part of any RPG. Probably why I liked CT so much. My CT characters were also stubbornly persistent in the equipment they used. What can I say, Vilani conservatism? Don't fix what ain't broke? ;)

What it didn't score is that I'm also a rules-raping munchkin, too!

I took it again, it's been two months...

Don't know if I agree with everything on mine, but then again I don't play as a Player all that often. 90% of the time, I'm the GM;

I do consider myself a Character player and feel that everything listed is correct, except for the Bolded part. I feel the rules are VERY Important. I like having a consistent set of rules so that everyone, the GM and Player understand the parameters of the game. Nothing I hate worse than a GM who rules one way one session and then another way for the exact same situation at another time. Also, while I can appreciate a good session of pure roleplay with very little dice rolling, I'm a gamer at heart and want to Roll Them Bones!

What can I say, I started out as a Wargamer... ;)

This is pretty accurate when I get to play. I GM about 75-80% of the time:

I let the "Calculating Results" spin for about 15 minutes before giving up on it. I was reading stuff in other tabs of my browser; maybe it needed me to stay on that one tab, but if so, then it should have calculated faster.

I wouldn't expect any surprise result anyway; from the category descriptons posted by robject at the start of this thread, I'm obviously a Storyteller first and foremost, w some bits of Tactician and Weekend Warrior.

I am GM a lot more than I am a player, although my eldest son has decided he also likes GMing, which is letting me play a bit more.
