Actually, UPP is an old term for UWP (Universal Planetary Profile, now changed to Universal World Profile to avoid confusion with Universal Personal Profile).

Thanks Topaz. I appreciate the back-up. And I do agree Easterner9504 was a bit harsh in his wording for correction.

My copy of CT is vintage 77, with Universal Planetary Profiles (UPP) instead of the newer Universal World Profile (UWP).

However, I do know that it was changed to UWP as I own hardcopys of Starter Traveller, Gurps Traveller Book, MT, TNE, T4, most of MgT and the T5 discs.

UPP was the term used throughout CT - LBB6 still uses UPP even for extended system generation.

UWP is a DGPism - it does make sense to differentiate from UPP for characters though, so it is a change I'm in favour of.

But it's a pretty pedantic nit pick, especially since so many of us use UPP for worlds.

Starter uses UPP, not UWP.

It should not matter, as any informed reader will know what you mean based upon the context of the communication and/or the format of the UPP. It's not like it's easy to confuse them, really.

I agree. You know the two acronyms exist. If you cant see the difference from the UPP of a world and UPP of a character your not paying attention. I would rather talk about the world than game terms.

While the planet has a layer of diamonds and many would make it to the surface I think the carbon crust would make a better source for carbon fibers if you could get to it.

That would be the problem not to mention the carbon likely being very active in terms of reacting with whatever it could. Anything organic would likely be :toast:
