What appeals the most to you about Traveller?

That's an answer that has changed over the years, at this point I think that I love the inspiring backdrop of the canon setting even if my own campaign is "inspired by" it rather than bound by it. The mechanics are fine in large part, but I use Full Thrust instead of Traveller shipbuilding and combat - and if Traveller was unavailable I expect I'd use the Cyberpunk 2020/RED rules instead (which I did for many years, The RTG engine with the GDW setting). Currently I use a heavily modified Cephesus Engine.

There are lots of aspects that appeal to me, but the one that stands out is the background's accessibility: whatever SciFi narrative I'd like to run, it fits somewhere into Charted Space, and there is already a wealth of material (worlds, ships, scoieties) I can use to cristallise ideas on.
