What's a thrasher?

Now I'm going to have to reconsider those stars.... <argh!>

Next thing we know, you'll be comparing her merits to those of Demi Moore in Striptease....

1. I had a difficult childhood. I'm a product of undercrowded public schools. Society is to blame.

2. I had not thought of comparisons but I believe Miss Berkeley's merits are real...

Don't confuse 'real' with 'natural.' I sincerely doubt that Ms. Moore is sporting holograms.

**With apologies for continued thread diversion.

</font>
I believe he meant 'real' as in the opposite of fake, non-genuine, not-original-equipment, if you take my drift. Not 'unreal' or 'illusory'. Though I may have had to rub my eyes to confirm what I was seeing.....

Stars for you, Me Lad, for recognizing Jugger's old Pal Sar-ee-gar!

Now when people are mentioning interesting sci-fi reading, Alien Legion I thought was pretty good. The graphic novel I have especially....

The choice is yours, soldier,
when the day draws nigh,
bright day to live,
grey day to die.

</font>
Reminds me of something I saw in (I think) User Friendly. Two guys looking at a magazine ad and one says "What does this babe have to do with computer chips?" (pause) "Silicone!"

A fine point indeed. I did of course mean natural when I wrote "real." I think that may show a natural prejudice and shame on me for being so discriminating. [sic] ;)

I recently saw Daredevil, for some unknown reason... and I remember asking myself, "Why is Ben Affleck fighting a Cigar Store Indian?" Then I realized it was Jennifer Garner... she has 90% post-consumer recycled parts...

For my money, Durge, Zeerod, and Meico owned Alien Legion. Jugger was just Wolverine... Sarigar tore it up as well...

</font>
Ah, "A Grey Day to Die," one of my favorite Alien Stories ever. A great tale on how the reliaty and myth of heroes sometimes don't see eye to eye.

I must say, I expected to hear the sound of chirping crickets when I mentioned Sarigar. How good it is to see other fans of the Legion -- which, incidentally, HEAVILY influenced my Classic Traveller campaigns of the day, I might add. We ran one game where the heroes were forced to use biodegradeable dart guns, ala Issue #1 for environmental reasons. Lots of fun, that.

For my credits, Sarigar and Durge were tied for my favorite legionnaire. Grimrod was cool, but a bit too much like Wolverine and I never liked it when they took his helmet off. I always dug the dact thet he got away with wearing non-regulation headgear and never (for a while, anyay) took it off.

Meico and Montroc were also faves, even if they were a little overzealous in the hand-wringing department.

Mescad was a good runner up, who has perhaps the best death story of any of the legionnaires. Worst death stories easily go to Durge and Torqa Dun, to great characters whose offstage deaths robbed the readers of something good.

One more thing...what was with those enormous cybernetic legs Zeerod was sporting in the second series? He looked like he could jump inot orbit with those crazy things.

FWIW-I remember first reading about boxer/mantis shrimp in a short Berserker story by Fredrick Saberhagen. I hope the members here have had the pleasure of reading some of Saberhagen's early Berserker stories.
