MGT Only: Where are the Vir

In the Traveller Campaign Book there's a city run by a race called The Vir. The city is called Nagh’har’va’akundurion (or Nez for short)

Is there any source that indicates where or on what world this city is located including any info on The Vir Empire. They seem like a real group nasties I'd like to flesh out for a campaign.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

If it is a black cover book from Mongoose (except, inexplicably, "Library Data") it does not need a place in the OTU.

Two OTU groups start with that syllable, but neither is documented as having an "empire". The Virushi don't do empires, and the Virasin faith of Ilelish is neither wide-spread nor non-Human.

if both DoctorRomulus and Disco Soup are talking about this book, then I think the answer is the Vir are in that book and nowhere else.

That book is a non-OTU canon "generic" book*, and contains/can contain elements that are not in the OTU, but that people may want in their ATU or in another setting they are trying to mimic. For example, the MgT cybernetics supplement is explicitly about introducing 80's cyberpunk style cybernetics into MgT, right down to the chrome finish and old school hackers in cyberspace. the Central Supply Catalogue has guns ripped directly form other sci fi settings (dark elder splinter guns, the Mauler shotpistol fro Halo, ect).

so, I think the answer to: what do we know about the Vir? not much, but enjoy creating some!

*if I remember correctly, the only books that were supposed to be OTU canon were the ones marked "Third Imperium".

Kewlness,

Okay,
now to the fun part.

Making these guys the new nasties to oppose the Third Imperium.

Thinking of setting their Empire somewhere coreward of the Julian Protectorate..
Having them control something on order or 4000 or so worlds.

Any ideas???

4,000 worlds would put that at roughly 2/3rds the size of the Zhodani, or somewhat bigger than the Solomani.

I'd play the initial stages somewhat similar to how the battletech universe played the Clan Invasion.

Rumours are spreading though the Vargr Extents of a new force, a fleet that takes no prisoners and is exterminating whole worlds with nuclear fire*.

Imperial Intelligence assets in the Julian Protectorate report large numbers of Protectorate warships moving coreward. recce sweeps on the border show force levels are lower than they have ever been. Clearly something to coreward has them scared, scared enough to expose their rear to the imperium.

refugees form Vargr states to coreward are streaming across the border, some bearing battle damage and all bearing tales of woe. they all report ships of very similar design advancing on a front almost a sector wide, at a measured pace. the axis of advance is heading for Antares sector.

the imperial navy issues a war alert. Reservist activation orders are issued for the entire of the domains of Vland and Sylea, and battlegroups are despatched form as far rimward as Ilelish.

Not since the Solomani Rim War has the Imperium gathered so much of it's power. only time will tell if it is enough......

*the vir don't have to actually act like this, as rumours tend to grow in the telling.

Note that going through the Julian Protectorate is not going to be a cakewalk. One of the Julian member races is the Hkhar. Mess with even one of their worlds and you have a foe that will not cease to fight until one side is dead.

Flanking the Julians are the Yileans, currently in the form of the Gashikan Empire. They are deeply anti-Vargr, but will probably not tolerate anyone else being aggressive toward them either. Try to flank to trailing and you get close to the trans-rift K'kree. They're already skittish around so many Vargr and Hkhar...

In summary, that is not a fun neighborhood to get on the bad side of.
