Why Did All The Droyne Disappear?

OK then. This is more a why meta behind the scenes question. Going thru MegaTraveller UWPs and comparing them to the travellermap Second Survey UWPs, Second Survey has far fewer worlds sporting the DroyN or ChirN comment. I am seeing this in orther sources. I know that MegaTraveller was written long ago and Second Survey is more recent.

Does anyone know or have insight as to the editorial decision to remove the plethora of Droyne and Chirper populations from Second Survey listings? Did the habitats not make sense? Were they removed to make them more "mysterious"? I am questioning along those lines.

I think there was a desire to pull back droyne worlds to conform to the map in the CT alien module.

What were some MegaTraveller droyne worlds that got disappeared in the T5SS?

The Population for the Droyne comes from Astrogator's Guide to the Diaspora Sector, specifically the 1124 figures-None of these have Droyne population figures in Second Survey

That is an insane number of droyne and chirper worlds and was almost certainly adjusted on purpose.

The CT Droyne module shows only one chirper world in subsector E and no droyne worlds anywhere in the sector. The T5SS data for 1105 reflects this, with only chirpers on Ninja (0415).

That said, the Astrogator's Guide specifically mentions Acorn (2835), Aazunl (2405), and Six Gun (0723) as having chirper populations, and I think any canonical in-text reference was enough to qualify for T5SS inclusion. I assume the omission of these worlds was an oversight, but this really would have been a question for Don to field.

Myself, I'd keep Ninja, add the three Astrogator Guide worlds, and scrub droyne and chirpers from the rest.

Ya, that's what I am doing for the MT Sector maps. I asked because 1248 books specifically state that due to Virus and human atrocities, Droyne get up off the duffs and start migrating and interacting with the Charted Space. Diaspora Droyne are forcibly casting entire Chirper populations to increase the Droyne voting blocks in the Freedom League. In 1248 Droyne are still soewhat aloof, but far more involved stellar affairs than before.

I'm going to point to this as an example of why some of the worlds shouldn't be Chirper worlds. How do Chirpers, who have the technological manipulative capability of chimpanzee, survive on a vacuum world smaller than the moon?

In sealed caverns with remnant Ancient Technology would be one possible reason.
