TNE, like all versions of Traveller suffers from a common problem...everything is compared backwards except for those who never left CT. MT players compare back to CT & see a better game or have accepted MT. TNE players compare back to MT & CT to see a better game or have accepted CT. etc. I must admit, I was one of those players. Now, I have accepted Traveller as a vast panoramic mural akin to those amusement museums built in the late 1960s & 1970s. If you look hard enough, you will find something delightful but each one by itself might approximate a Mona Lisa but never quite there...so we tinker and end up contaminating what we percieve as the OTU but take the steps back and view the perspective and see it as a panoramic mural, then it will fit into place. Taking in the whole universe is impossible so why should we try with the OTU?
