Wookiee Characters

T5.09's sophont creation rules produces detail sufficient to generate a Wookiee character, run him through Traveller character generation, and play him in a game.

But beware of his longevity.

Native Terrain: Forest (environment=+1).
Ecological Niche: Omnivore hunter, of course.
Characteristics: This one is more art than science. They're strong, dexterous, intelligent. They're also large - females are 100 kg. That maps to Size 100. So I give them:

* Strength 4D
* Dexterity 2D
* Endurance 2D
* Intelligence 2D
* Education 2D
* Social Standing 2D

There are two genders, with the male massing about 25kg more. Let's offset that physical development with reduced intelligence and education. That would suggest:

* Gender mods (male): Str +2, End +2, Int -2, Edu -2.

Life stages.
Young Adult at age 12 (Stage 3 at 3 terms).
Adult at age 18 (Stage 4 at 4 terms).
Peak at age 200 (Stage 5 at 50 terms). Aging task rolls start.
Midlife at 300 (Stage 6 and 7 at 75 terms).
Elder at 350 (Stage 8 at 87 terms).
Retired at 400 (Stage 9+ at 100 terms).

In Traveller, an adult wookiee will spend a lot of effort on health regimens -- exercise and diet will be extremely important to maintain one's quality of life.

Note that this is "by the book" according to Wookieepedia. By this measurement the Wookiee is potentially a munchkin character, since he could conceivably be in a career for 80 terms. Presumably, though, the wounding and death rules in career resolution become the important limiter here. Also, the aging rolls become dangerous to long-lived Wookiees, since physical improvement is much easier during career resolution than afterwards. They'd have to "bank up" as much physical improvement as they can, then rely on the referee to figure out how to keep their characters healthy as the years stretch on.

Senses. The only notable item here is a keen sense of smell, so Smell-24 (16 is human baseline).

Body Structure needs no mention. Everybody knows they're bipedal yeti-like critters.

Special Abilities. I would add a special ability of Craftsman to both genders.

Body Form Profile. Just as a double-check: indexing their size (about 100) with their height (about 2.1+m) comes up with a Profile of about 9: typical humanoid profile. Which makes sense.
