Ypres class Light Assault Carrier
Here is an experimental light assault carrier that the Imperial Navy experimented with. There are still a number in service and the design is offered to Merc units.
The small size means the ships vehicles are externally mounted, which means if vehicles are required on landing boat insertion they must be loaded in orbit or pre-mission loaded, a shortcoming that cannot be overcome. Naturally, grav vehicles can be dropped in low orbit. After several years in service the Imperial Navy deemed them to be too small and not agile enough for intended use.
The Ypres class carries enough fuel for a 1200dT vessel, more than enough to ensure maximum performance when fully loaded. There is enough hold space to ensure that several vehicles can be carried and deployed as the mission requires.
The Imperial navy conceived the design for quick n dirty insertion missions escorted by 2 to 3 close escorts.
