Stranded on an Angry Red Planet (in 15mm)

Their Safari ship having crash landed, three adventurers make their way across a desolate red landscape...

Cool ship. The safari class is my favorite of the CT ships. Is the model scratch-built, or did someone make it commercially? (A ship that comes with a bar and an extendable patio rates highly.)

Nice minis, too. Don't mean to slight them.

flying sub...
Bingo!
savage answered your question Steve, this Safari ship is in fact the Flying sub model I had as a kid, which I retrieved from an attic in my parents' house last December.

I agree, I love the Safari ship, for much the same reasons. And when I saw the flying sub there in the attic, I figured it would make a great Traveller prop.

Glad you liked the minis too. I had a really tough time getting a good pic of them.

Originally, I had lights on in the sub. But that was with some test shots. When I went to take these, I couldn't find the lights. Doh.

I was in my FLGS a few days ago (American Eagles on Lake City Way, Seattle), and what to my wondering eyes did appear but ... a model of the flying sub! Brand new, in the box. It turns out, that model is still in production by Moebius Models. And it's beautiful. The store owner and I popped open the box and pawed through it. It's not a particularly complex build, but it actually opens up to reveal the detailed interior! Waaaay cool. And it's big enough (1:32) that it could be used with 15mm or 25mm figs (or the 1:72 plastics I tend to prefer). They also make the Seaview, the Voyager, and the Chariot and Space Pod from Lost in Space.

The only downside? It's $75. Less on the internet, but I do like to support the local store.

At that price, I walked away, both disappointed and encouraged. I can tell that, unless something else comes along to really distract me, I'm probably going to wind up buying this thing sometime in the next few months.

Interesting, but not at that price.
Now the smaller scale model and 'cardstock interior' on the website at $16 could be a possibility, otherwise it's wait for it to come out on ebay, I think.

The big one is probably a bit too big for 15mm. At 14 in dia I reckon it would be in the 300-500 dT ball park, and the interior layout would make it pretty obviously a small craft.

Yesterday, I stopped into a nearby hobby shop. They had on the shelf a plastic kit of the Lost in Space Space Pod, from season 3. I thought, "Oh, cool! Must have!"

Then I saw the price: $39.99. Yikes! Don't need a bit of plastic nostalgia that much 1

But thanks for the fun images, and the Wayback machine. I was three years old when the show debuted, and I had a Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea lunchbox as a kid. I was constantly drawing the Seaview and the awesome Flying Sub from the images on the box. Good times.

Also, the theme music still gives me chills!

I know what you mean... good times. My best friend from about second grade through high school was a kid I met due to the fact that we both had U.F.O. lunch boxes.

Hey, another Marylander! I'm going to have to start a list.
