Frontier Report Issue 1 Out Now

I have to add my praise, I just ran through the Belters section. Very good piece. This looks like a standout fanzine, very professional indeed. Andrews art is superb too, though Andrew, you might add a tad more dirt to the Free Trader, it looks like it just flew out of the showroom.. :-)

I'll second that!

The file library limits the file size to 4.88 MB though, so it will either have to be broken into pieces or maybe a mod can post larger file sizes.

That takes an admin.

However, pkzip/gnuzip can segment an archive; segment it with 4500kb chunks, and upload it to the files area as a single thread.

Yes, it is a bit big, can anyone suggest a file compressing utility that really works, I tried zipping the pdf and shaved off a paltry 400k, not worth the effort really....

I will PM hunter and ask if he can include it in the file library despite it's big size.

P.S. Guys if anyone has some submissions please start sending them in and I'll work them into the next issue as six months might seem a long way off but when your typesetting and proof reading it isn't really...

Excellent,

Am not a huge T4 fan but the I find a lot of the material is useful regardless.

Probably most impressed with " Four Corners " - great concept and atmosphere, and the MT Grav vehicles at the end - artwork and amount of detail is hugely impressive.

Well done, looking forward to more.

RR

Yay! downloaded successfully! wallowing in traveller goodness!

ps. for most people who have broadband 14 megs is not big at all. I would prefer quality over compression, particularly on the images.

Thank you Drax!!!!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, The next issue should be ready around about October, so please start sending me your stuff as we will release an issue early if we've got enough to fill 100 pages or so. There's plenty of room for everyone's submissions (provided the quality is there). For the next issue I want to see more Classic Traveller material as to be honest I've only included lots of T4 material in this issue to try and put right the biggest flaws in the rule book and try and give the community the tools to have a really enjoyable game with it. Whether I've done that correctly I'm not sure as everyone has different opinions (which is a good thing).

So please send me

Rules revisions
Adventures (preferably set in the 4 corners region)
NPC stats and write ups
New equipment and gadgets
Ships (high guard or book2/MegaTraveller/IDP design system)
World Write-ups
Fiction
Deckplans
Adventure Seeds/Amber Zones
Artwork

In short anything you like if you think it will benefit the community. As always I cant pay you but I'll give you full credit and show off your genius to the whole world.

submit to admin@the-children-of-earth.org

I've PM'ed Hunter with regards to the file library submission idea, so hopefully we'll have a result on this soon.

I have got it down to 4 megs with the 'Reduce file size' command in Acrobat 9 Pro (mac).
And I think it is all complete... ;)

I'll email it over to you Commander D. :)

All right, I can get to Beech's website, but children of earth is blocked.

Is the adobe acrobat pro (mac) format compatable with windows and can you e-mail me a copy if it is?

Theophilus, it should be compatible so email me your address to dredington(at)me(dot)com & I'll send it over :)

Beech, thank you for the offer. I went to the local library and used the "high speed" internet.

Took twenty minutes to download (Would have taken four at work), found the only computer with a DVD/CD-rw burner. Admin blocks burning to disk.

Found a way to drag and drop using Roxio.

Let me take the disk home and see if it works.

Quick note - in the subsector data sections, Core/Cadion 0734 is showing as "Ferr?" - it should be "Ferré" - this was due to an encoding issue with the TravellerMap.com site which I've corrected. I've sent Mark e-mail, hopefully this can be corrected in any updates to the PDF.

I feel particularly bad since this is the only world with a non-ASCII name and I've known about it since the site went live - I must have broken it recently - but at work on Friday we had a big discussion about text encoding and I acted like I knew what I was doing. :P

Hey, Don't be embarrassed, the Traveller universe contains far too much detail for any one person to manage successfully, hence the living document philosophy behind Frontier Report I've had a few corrections sent to me which I'll do at the end of the week and update the pdf accordingly, so there's still time if you want to highlight any omissions or errors :)
