Hydrogen: The Savior of the Shipping Industry

To learn more about the fight to stop climate change go to https://gatesnot.es/3dkhdhH. Thanks to Bill Gates and Breakthrough Energy for supporting this episode of SciShow.

Huge container ships relying on fossil fuels transport all kinds of goods across the ocean, creating a huge climate change impact. But there's a better way to power this transport using, of all things, water.

One thing we do have access to, is lots of hydrogen; by product oxygen.

in zero grav a condenser won't work. but in traveller responsive internal gravitics are handwaved into existence, so there you go. but if your players ever ask what the heat sink is you'd better have an answer.

The aft side of the "nacelles", where the drawings show a something like a vent, or something. Probably too small.

Obviously some heat can be used for hotel loads.

What is the rule concerning Gyazo links? For those who may not know, Gyazo is an app that allows one to take a picture of your screen and share it on the web. The picture of your computer screen goes up on a website. allowing one to share it with others.

What is the rule concerning Gyazo links?

I don't really know, but I have used Imgur to share screen grabs for years and no-one have complained yet...

If you do a link show the entire link and say what it leads to.

Go for it!

Excerpts:

11) Clear Link Requirement
Links must clearly indicate both the type of content (video, HTML, PDF, other document type), and destination (to at least the http://xxx.xx.xx level.)

Links
Links need to have a clear indication where it goes to in the link text.
"Click here" (and anything similar) is not an acceptable link text. No use of URL proxies like go.to// or youtu.be// - those are not clear.

A video needs to mention what the content of the video is. A document file should have a title reference.

This is what started this for me. I started thinking that if the fusion plants puts out DC instead, and most of your systems, like electronics, computers, sensors etc. are DC anyway, each with it's own AC to DC converter built in, why do you need an AC system anyway?

A Beowulf is less than 50 meters long. Is it small enough to make the need for an AC set up superfluous?
No. Considering the smallest SSN the US Navy built was 2,649 metric tons submerged (189 dTons), the size of the ship is irrelevant. The other advantage of AC is you can step up and step down the voltage as required.

<much good stuff snipped for space.>
So, one motor generator for the shore power connection.
:D
Not quite. More like a connection for each.

And the mimic bus will be in the image gallery on my blog.
