It is not. As I said clearly in my post, it was not bad, just not what I was used to seeing.

I was just reacting to a design choice I thought was somewhat unique. :-(

The Far Trader traditionally has side mounted turrets, but it is a bit unusual for a single turret.

When you're on Polo Palapala V, and your party is racing in on a sparking and smoldering grav truck followed by 1000 angry natives from the starboard side (who knew they could travel so fast!), you're going to be wishing that turret was on top.

My TNE campaign saw that come up a number of times, both when the PCs were faced with a grounded ship, and when their own was under attack. I may have placed the gun on one of their ships on the other side from all the access ports with malice aforethought. On the other hand, as it was a tail-sitter with the turret up near the nose, it had a really commanding view of the arc it did cover.
