101 uses for a dead scout.

Orbital weather or traffic control station.
Lifeboat for a space station or orbital platform.
Sink it and turn it into a reef (maybe with some secret item still hidden aboard?).

What's a little weather

Assuming dead scout means non-flight worthy many ideas are pretty good. They'd make good "hostile" env habitats. Even setting one in a rain forest, moon, or desert can make a useful lifeline. Heck bury the thing and use it as a control center for a missile defense system...

I take it you mean other than blowing up things in the planetoid belt(s) ie. Asteroids...

Scout ships are also good as mobile scout bases linked together in a battlecarrier type formation or as a ground base with gangways between them. They could also serve as a more powerful arm or alternate SDB capable of pirate hunting with its jump capacity for poor planetary navies. Their superior scanners would allow for recon and report findings back, if bigger guns are needed. As noted above their use espinonage has been noted above but I have worked it so that the owners are not even aware of the information bursts their transponder makes.

101 uses for a dead scout.

Awww darn. And I read the subject line and I was hoping that this thread was about "101 uses for a dead body of an IMPERIAL Scout."

I was going to suggest: Pinata for the Birthday Party of the 9-year old son of the SolSec Colonel.

Turn it into a shuttlecraft for worlds with hostile atmospheres

Maybe add direct vision ports to port and starboard and use it as a tour shuttle.

Captain's or Admiral's Gig

F-104 "The Original Starfighter"

I like Savage's suggestion... I have seen many ex-freight cars (rail), cabooses (remember those?), and passenger cars that have been converted into houses in rural areas. I have also seen them made into resturants.

In Australia there is a Bristol Freighter (cargo aircraft) that has been converted into part of a "bed & breakfast", sections of aircraft fuselages (and flying boat hulls) have been made into houseboats.

The domestic, private ownership, non-flying (in any way) uses are many.

Explosive decompression training center.
My wife is a firefighter, and they use old cars for training in using the jaws of life, putting out vehicle fires. So in addition to the 'Explosive decompression training center' it could be used as training for emergency entries, by the local SPA in putting out fires in a vacuum (well, other than just opening the airlocks), and other emergency training exercises.

1) Put it up on concrete blocks in the front yard of some house on "Redneck" world.

2) Put it out back as a "mother-in-law" bungalow (just don't tell her about the exotic carnivore in the cargo hold.)

3) Rig up the exhaust ports with chemical smoke and take up sky-writing or ionized particles for "space-writing".

4) Break out the glass, weld the doors and enter a demolition derby.

5) Fill it up with dirt and raise nightcrawlers.

6) Fill it up with flea dip for Vargr.

7) Put it behind Curtain #3 (You've been zonked!)

My apologies to those under 30 for that last one. Ask your parents to explain it.

OK, maybe not dead but definitely past her prime. What alternate uses can people come up with for a standard 100dton sulieman scout?

. . .

What else can you do with a dead scout?

Totally dead: go through the pockets for loose change.

Mostly dead: drop in on a nice wilderness TL 8-9 world, and watch the fun when the locals find it and maybe get Jump technology, maybe the finders fire it up and head off into the cosmos.

Concours-quality restoration, with matching numbers and all parts OEM. Period-correct vacc suits in the ship's locker, all that stuff.

Take it on the show circuit.

Sell it to a collector.

Use the proceeds to buy the TL-15 version of a Type S.

Carve the back off it, mount plexiglass bubbles in the engine nacelles, mount it to the wall in your bar, and turn it in to a fish tank.

Oh, wait, you're talking about the ship, not the person. I had some ideas going there until I realized that. Probably best I keep those to myself. :D

Yea, if we're talking about people then there's always those trips to the taxidermist and posing them in embarrassing positions.

Attach to the surface of your BB to act as ablative armour (might need a few...).

Talking about the Scout ship not the Scout. But saying that, attaching dead Scouts to your Tigress would be quite the statement when it comes to inter-service rivalries.
