2009 PBEM Trillion Credit Squadron Tournament

Start a new thread and hash it out, I guess--

Things have to be pretty open and fair if it's a tournament game....

The last two games are called "stalemates" because the ships involved had low to-hit rolls and (generally) decent defenses. No side had any significant advantage... and the players were not particularly attached to their designs... SO it was agreed that we would just move on and that it would be more fun to run a different scenario with improved designs.

I did make some mistakes in running the games, though in most cases they were caught fairly quickly and had no impact on the outcome of the games. One player did not seem to be aware of the HE vs. Nuclear missile option in the rules.... (!!)

I hope that the design notes are useful to players gearing up for the 10 BCr tournament that starts next month!

20t extra fuel beyond J3/28d (2 fuel hits). boat pilot of 1 in crew.
Idea is rather than a rumbly rock, looks more "ship like" by a carved exterior, which also allows for more tailored thicknesses in desired sections, just a personal YMMV preference of mine, also by A3 20% planetoid vs A4 20% TL7-9 "standard" armor, hence "carved", also allows for great "expression" in hull exterior aesthetics <s>.

A big slow attempt maximizing defense, after seeing the write up of them missile bay jobbers (Dagger IV & Sloepigg) Also kept 120t cargo, this one is lacking the carried cutters to fit into the 1BCr cap, but is partial stream so ok for GG refuel. Is a single occupancy (crew could be doubled say additional 35 marines), sort of a semi-military idea, some cargo, possible passengers, frozen watch to low passengers, etc. Maybe even nukeless missiles for interior of Imperium legality. Both this and the Riposte have fuel for J4, allowing a jump 3 in and still have J1 fuel to lose as fuel hits, also lets em cruise at J2x2 along say X-Boat/trade routes.

This needs 10's to hit my Aristinas at long (11 at short) Pen Sand on 4's. My Aristinas hit on 8's (Pen sand on 7) and send out twice as many shots. My shots hurt worse also as I carry more armor. The cutters are negligible (Factor 1 missile from a 2 computer means it hits on a 16...Impossible)

A win for the Aristinas is almost a forgone conclusion in this matchup.

My apologies, but I'm a bit tied up with a new Pocket Empires campaign and have one Battletech campaign running and a BT project also, so between that for my time and then work and family I don't think I'm going to be able to actively participate in the Billion Credit competition. I'd like to lurck and ask questions occassionally if that is alright.
