A Traveller Movie

That's something incredible!!! MAKE IT LONGER! (Come on, everyone, join in!) MAKE IT LONGER! MAKE IT LONGER! MAKE IT LONGER!

Seriously, Andrew, that's impressive - most impressive.

What a FANTASTIC mini-movie!!!!!!!! I'd be happy to put some music together for it, if you'd like?

<stares at screen mesmerised>

Man, the tales that could be told just from that short movie. I am truly in awe.

That's got to be the closest thing I've ever seen to my ideas of Traveller. Absolutely fantastic, Andrew, absolutely fantastic.

<blush> Thanks.

"I'd be happy to put some music together for it, if you'd like?"

Yeah, that'd be great. The piece I'm using fits very well, but there is the small problem of copyright...

Of course, the music would be free/gratis to you. If you've got any ideas for tones/structures/arrangements I'd be happy to have a go at putting something together.

I suspect we're not looking at a Star Wars/Star Gate/Star Trek TNG style arrangement for it - that'd be way too obvious a route to go down, and I don't think it would fit the mini movie (no star destroyers hovering in the background!).

I love the acoustic guitar idea - there's plenty of room for manouevre there.

I'm just astounded by the mini movie. That must have taken you some time to put together.

Andrew, that was truly excellent, it's almost the opening shot for a dozen or so traveler adventures that I've been a part of.........Simply awesome!

Lovely, just lovely. Great work! :D

Hope the astrogator is up to snuff, that's a long way inside the 100D limit! :eek:

Andrew, nice one!

I wish I had the time to do half the Traveller movies I have in my head - pesky 24-hour days! grrr

Well, when I try to view the movie, all that happens is the music plays with a blank screen. :(

Yes, I can play .avi files.

I can't download it, either, so my next idea of trying to use quicktime to play it won't work, either.

Ok, I found the .avi in my Temporary Internet Files.

Using Quicktime to try and play it produces and error message that says it doesn't have the "files" necessary to play it.

Oh well.

"Well, when I try to view the movie, all that happens is the music plays with a blank screen."

Sounds like you haven't installed the divx codec.

"I can't download it, either"

Right click, save as.

Andrew, I got some studio time arranged for the music via a mate who's in the music business. I need to know what file format you want the finished mix in?

My friend has sound effects too - found the some really nice sounds in his files. Thought the sound effects would run like this:

Opening shot:
air/raft engines (fade into and out of mix as it approaches then goes into distance) + slight breeze sound;

Starport bay shot:
Droid noises, mechanical noises, air/raft engine coming to a stop, gas/steam hisses, ship engines warm up, unusual lift off sound, acceleration sound;

Leaving planet behind shot:
Starship engines fade in as ship approaches;

Going to Jump shot:
Starship engines sound at level volume, increase pitch + volume prior to jump + nice fuzzy electrical sound when Lanthanum grid is at full intensity (fades in during prep for jump), tail end of sounds faded off once ship has gone to Jump.

The sound effects would be secondary to the music.

The only glitch here is a lack of a good "Jump" sound. Tried a few but they didn't sound/feel right, they all ended up sounded like ST:TNG Enterprise D entering warp. I'll see if we can hack something together from a combined sample or something.

Will try to put it all together for the end of Jan.

I have the divx codec.

And "Save Target As" is disabled on the context sensitive pop-up menu.

EDIT----------------
Oh! A kindly soul PMed me. I guess I need the latest divx codec.

Ok, now that my brain is screwed on correctly, I was able to view it.

WMP wasn't able to handle it, but the divx player that came with the codec could.

I think I'll have to go with Jame, MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE . . .

Put in an ATV, or a GCarrier, unarmed or armed.

Maybe, if you ever get around to making another movie, you could make it about mercenaries, using a Broadsword...
