I believe that axial load is the best option, specially in ACS where loading arrangements will vary according to starport classes at the varied destinations. You may have Roll in/Roll out requirement, grav lift, 20ft or 40ft containers etc... Largest door with "clean cube" access ( like a 20h x 20w x 200 length hold will have a 20 x 20 door at the head of its longitudinal axis) is the best, with (as suggested) a ramp that could be adjusted to serve lower and upper deck (as in modern ro/ro ships).
