ACR vs. Light ACR vs. Assault Rifle

endersg

SOC-7
Alright, my next set of questions:

The ACR from pg 200 of THB has relevant stats of
RoF 1/4 Dmg 1d12+2 (x2), 20 rd mag capacity and the **** note says it can fire Standard and HE rds.

The "Light ACR" from Personal Weapons of Chartered Space, pg 23 and 35 has relevant stats:

Rof 1/4/F, 50 rd magazine, Dmg 1d12, no multiplier, no mention of grenade launcher.

An Assault rifle has the same RoF, weight, size, dmg, and does 1d12 (x2)

What gives?

It seems to me that a Light ACR is a PoS. Can a normal ACR fire AP rds? Does a Light ACR have a Dmg multiplier of x2 and its just a mistake on the chart? Does a light ACR have a grenade launcher? Can a normal ACR fire full auto?

Thoughts?

Should give you a brief rundown on styles and capabilities of a small list of TL5-8 military and civilian weapons, focussing mainly on sporting rifles, shotguns, SMGs, and assault rifles.

Weapons are different and with the right sales pitch (or kickback) you can sell nearly anything to some military organisations. The light ACR has a higher rate of fire and a larger clip, enough of a difference that someone will want it over the full ACR. Effectively they are the same weapon with slight variation.

Velt,

My question was more of an errata one. Are the "Light" ACR stats correct? Because it doesn't make much sense that every single small arm has a damage multiplier of at least x2 on a critical hit whereas the light ACR has none. As is, the Light ACR is actually worse than an Assault Rifle, so why even make one?

In other words, it has to be a mistake. But what are the true stats?

OK, the way I understood it is the Light ACR is a cutdown, paramilitary/cilvilian version of the ACR. Now I also thought that the ACR was 1/4/fa and the Light ACR was 1/4 only. Further the Light ACR is without the greenade launcher. (Therefore making licensing easier.) Yes the Stats appear to be similar to the Assault Rifle. In T20 all weapons can use AP ammo. And there is no reason that the Light ACR couldn't use the same ammo as the ACR. (Unless they are different calibers.) The Assault Rifle and the ACR are full on military weapons. The Light ACR is like comparing the AR-15 civilian version to the M-16. It appears to be the same weapon, it fires the same ammo, it has the same basic range, sights, etc. The AR-15 does not mount the M203 Grenade launcher (though it might be able to), it does not have a setting other than semiauto (though it is a fairly simple modification to change it to have an auto setting) if you instead compare the M-16 to a Mini-14 it even avoids the now defunct ugly gun law.

That is my interpretation of the differences.

I can see that. (The Light ACR not having the GL) However, the stats are kinda weird. The Light ACR is (F) while the normal ACR is only 1/4. Plus, I think they made a mistake with the crit multiplier. The Light ACR has none, while the Carbine versus of the Assault Rifle has one of x2. I can understand the M16 to Mini 14 analogy, but I was thinking more of a M16/M203 to M4/M203 analogy where the Light ACR is just a cut down version of the ACR with a collapsble stock, but still retains the M203.
