And now for something completely different...

Hunter,

You'll be in my prayers. I'm glad you're able to take it well now, at least.

I agree with your blog post that the uncertainty is something terrible. I recently went through a day and a half where I was literally scared rigid with uncertainty. Fortunately all ended well for me with that, I was able to cope after the initial time, and a couple of weeks of progressively better news after that brought a happy ending.

But I felt the breath of a much worse possibility go by--I'm sorry to hear your results didn't go well. Stage 4 right off is either no fair or a heck of a fumble. Since when do diseases get feats?

Stay tough, and good luck.

It was an honor and a pleasure, rest assured. To be a part of a game I've loved all my life and to work with Marc was really a dream come true for me.

Yep, I know how that feels! Actually, I think you might've introduced my work to him, so I'll thank you for that too!

I can't ask for any more than comments like this from fans.

And I don't even *like* D20!

Trust me, I'm driving my family nuts with the morbid jokes and cracks right now. If I can't laugh my way through this, I might as well just give up and die right now and that's not something I'm going to do.

That's always been my theory! :)

I got your back my friend. As always.

p.s. But you know, but I wanted to say it publicly
p.s.s Want a cola? Hav-a-cola! Hav-a-cola? hav-a-nother!

I haven't been online in a week or so, and am utterly shocked and saddened by this news.
Our thought and best wishes are with you.

I've mined a lot of great ideas and information from your posts this last year on the forum, and appreciate your knowledge, expertise and humor.
Best of luck, and keep up the fight.

FRAK! I've been busily posting on CoTI and didn't see this until today.

Hunter, we have no connection except this wonderful RPG. I only know your name as I have read it on product credits. But, of course, you and all the other 'names' I have read are real people.

I am very sorry to hear about your health issues and I can only wish you the best to fight the cancer and keep some quality of life for yourself.

Only thing I have to say:

Illegitimi non carborundum

Best wishes Hunter. Humor, faith (of whatever kind and even better- it doesn't necessarily need to be your own) and perseverance will stand you in good stead. And keep up your research- While I realize 1: I ain't a doctor or a scientist and 2: I have tendencies towards paranoia - there may be other options being used in Europe or Canada that our doctors can't or won't use.

(I actually have experience with this, if you want details PM me).

Take care.

Kurtis

Hang in there...

and 'grats on being in the study. Here's hoping you're not in group "placebo!"

LOL! Thanks. I actually doing well spirits-wise. Not looking forward to what the effects of the chemo will be on me. I know it can vary greatly from person to person.

Since the drug company is footing the bill for all of my chemo treatments (they run better than $10K a shot just for one of the drugs I'll be taking), and after talking with a few of my dad's friends who do some legal and other work for some of the drug companies, odds are I'll be getting it we think.

Don't knock placebos, sometimes they work! :)

If you haven't yet, buy yourself a Kindle (or similar) - you're gonna spend a hell of a lot of time in waiting rooms or in bed being bored senseless. It might just save whatever sanity you have left.

Very true!

My son is letting me use his, but I've also got a Kindle app on my phone. I'm planning on taking those and my laptop to my chemo treatments, so I should be good there. My only problem is finding someone to bring me food at lunch! Then again I may not be that hungry at the time.

Rather than a Kindle, I'd tout the Nook Color, plus the Nook2Android card - that way, you can use the device in NookColor mode, as a e-reader with additional functions, OR, by booting off the N2A card, have a full Android tablet with several e-reader options (including Nook and Kindle), PLUS access to the Android Market, which has a better selection than the Nook Market.

That sounds great! The Kindle is nice but doesn't work well in low light for me. I find the Kindle app on my phone much easier to read and page through, the drawback being the size of course. I've considered the Nook because it is color and would alleviate the low light problem. The larger Nook with that card sounds like a great idea, but still unfortunately way beyond what I can afford.

The Kindle Fire looks interesting too.
