Are they still out there?

Are people like Andy Slack and Bob McWilliams still out there and do they still play Traveller? 'The Sable Rose Affair' was one of the first Traveller scenarios that I tried to run. All was going well until the club caught fire....ah well.

Hey! I remember that. Back in the days when White Dwarf was a real games magazine. Oh well, sniff...

I can't remember the issue but there was a really cool article about critical hit system. Lethal and well graphic! Yep, the early WD had some excellent Traveller stuff.

I know I saw Andy Slack's website with Traveller info on it within the last couple of years (I think he had all his old White Dwarf stuff on it) but can't seem to find the link now.

Someone has already quoted Andy Slack's website URL, so I'll just add that Phil Masters (who also contributed to early WD and indeed JTAS IIRC) is these days mainly a GURPS type (I believe he will be running some games as part of the SJG "MiB" demo team at Dragonmeet on 30th November in London) and despite extensive net searches, I have never turned up any sign of Bob Mc Williams - a real shame as I have very fond memories of the Sable Rose affair...

Thanks for the URL to Andy Slack's site. As you'd expect there is some good stuff there.

I was disapointed to see the "Sabre Rose Affair" scenario was missing - that was a fun one to play.

Do check out the "Snowbird Mystery" which is not bad for the 'find-the-hulk' type game.

Andy didn't write the 'Sable Rose Affair', that was Bob McWilliams (who also wrote 'Leviathan.')
Marcus Rowland also wrote a good one called 'Tower Trouble' based on an orbital elevator a la 'Fountains of Paradise' There were several scenarios in the early White Dwarfs that could bear reprinting and replaying (unless you've got the originals...what, Ancient, me?)
