Here is a great prop for any traveller group that does not involve a Thai speaking individual (and even it does, (s)he can play the Vilani)

Moderator Note: The link was correctly formed. I added an unparsed version so that the rest of us can see what's being talked about.

After I did enter the site (http://www.projectrho.com/) the graphics there did not load at first, either. I had to go through several of the on-site links (especially the 3-D starmap looks really interesting) and all of a sudden the graphics seemed to load. Using the back-button of my browser I could now see the other graphics, including the one mentioned here.

Aside from not being able to read Vilani :), the main thing that struck me was how large the political entities were. I'd always pictured the four kingdoms and other provinces as being much smaller than that - the empire was so large and ungovernable that any individual province would be little more than a speck on a galactic map - or maybe the size that has been asssigned to (what I assume is) Terminus.

Interesting stuff, though. And what is that language?

Chris

PS- And now I've been to the site with the image, I can see it here too. Strange.

I kinda figured that out when he mentioned Thai right in the original post...

Plus, I've made several trips to Thailand (when I was still military). It's a wonderful place. And, written Thai does make a great "alien" language. :)
