Battlegrounds RPG

I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago but haven't used it as yet.

Not many sci-fi maps/texture available and too lazy to look for my own at the moment.

It isn't stable yet. What are you planning on running using it? If it is for T20 then I recommend either kLoOge.Werks or GRiP . (Unless you really want to do lots of coding yourself, trust me I know.
) For CT there is, currently only Grip but I would be willing to help with Klooge.) If you are going with GRIP stick with the electronic download version, the rest don't really add any value. (Unfortunately.)

Thanks for posting the link, Beech. :)

Here are some screenshots to give you an idea of how you could run starship combats using Battlegrounds.

For anyone that's interested, I've posted links on my forums to dozens of excellent planet and moon graphics that could be placed on a generic starfield map, so it's a cinch to make your own customized space battle maps.

Actually you should mention that folks can try Battle Grounds for free at the iCoN - VGT convention... link in Sig :)

Has anybody had a go with this yet?

www.battlegroundsgames.com

could be useful...

Been keeping an eye on it since 2007.

I might wait until Heruca gets to "Version 2.0".

I have absolutely no use and no belief in any Virtual Tabletop program that lacks a decent character sheet function. Last time I checked, true tabletop RPGs such as AD&D and Traveller and Runequest and Call of Cthulhu were games that enticed you to use CHARACTER SHEETS while gaming. How in the hell do you keep track of your characters/adventurers otherwise?

Even GRIP (Hunter's own virtual tabletop program) has an impressive (customizeable) character sheet functionality, and that's a generous assessment since GRIP is an outdated and somewhat buggy (from my personal experience) piece of software dating from the Windows 98 era.

Still.... Battlegrounds RPG does look promising.
