Best CT adventure/Authors

Hands down the Keith brothers. Their Reavers Trilogy (Legend, Trail, and Fate of the Sky Raiders) is absolutely the best, when I got them, I stayed up reading them like novels. John M. Ford did some of the best "characters" in the Journal, like Lothario Lochinvar Finger, and the rock band Veedback. Oh, my, did my players hate to see those guys show up...

My favorite? Hmm. I can't say that anything particular jumps out at me.

The adventure I remember the most is Adventure 4: Leviathan, because I spent so much time staring at the deckplans, but that is not the same as saying it was my favorite. In fact, I always thought that the opportunities made available in the subsectors given in the adventure were rather lackluster, and would cause more problems for the players than anything.

When I picked up the CT compilation books, I bought the Adventures compilation dead last.

I tend to come up with my own adventures, for good or ill. I do use published material for inspiration and ideas.

yes, the keith brother stuff is very good. I always liked Chamax plague / horde.

The old Darathon Queen Judges guild adventure still occupies a soft spot, its not brilliant writing, its just airport77 / airplane in space and is good for the humour

The first two of the Sky Raiders series, TTA (more a campaign), A7 Expedition to Zhodnat, Most of the stuff in Alien Realms.

John M. Ford was a pseudonym for Bill Keith, IIRC. Same goes for Roger Moore, I think.

And his pseudonyms were for writing: Ian Douglas.../QUOTE]

He still uses Ian Douglas for his current SF novels. (excellent books BTW)

When I was Refereeing and playing Traveller back in the day, we created out own campaigns. In fact a friend of mine has written the first book of an upcoming trilogy within the setting he used as a referee. My old character (Naval Captain, Royal Britannic Navy) is actually in it as well :)

I have read the latest draft of the first book and it is excellent.

Now that I have come back home to Traveller, I am looking at the OTU and various adventures with more of an interest. Still need something to throw at my fellow aging gamers as a first scenario. Lots of great suggestions so far!

Yeah, John M. Ford was noted for Car Wars stuff.
And THE best Paranoia adventure: The Yellow-Clearance Black Box Blues.

And some really GREAT stories in the Liavek shared-universe books.

And for writing two of the BEST Star Trek novels: The Final Reflection and How Much For Just The Planet.

And we lost him WAY to early, dammit.

I loved the deck plans so much it took me a few weeks to figure out what the torpedoes meant for the destroying the 3I setting.

Then a while longer to figure out how odd the worlds were.

All the classic FASA adventures are hard to beat. But going back over them, the Far Trader adventures (in the magazine) are pretty darn good. Classic Keith Brothers stuff.
