Boarding less lethal weapon/device

Slightly off topic again, but

Had an interesting thought during the reading of spin gravity and gravity mechanics (handwaving) with boarding/fighting.

Say you have both TL present and

You have a highly trained crew using slow traveling ammuntion (nets, grenades, etc) that is use to gravity mechanics on ship and they encounter (board) a spin gravity ship.

Would the effect be enough to cause some interesting shots (misses)?

Or the other way around, you have a spin gravity trained crew that boards (and fights) on a gravity mechanic ship, they throw/aim for the normal rotation that they are use to and miss slightly?

Just some random thoughts. Honestly I don't think there would be that much difference but memory nags me to say that there is enough that it would make a difference on slow moving objects.

Not everyone plays in the OTU...

Aren't we talking about the OTU? Has anyone in this thread even mentioned another setting?

You can pull lots of tech alternatives out of the two versions of FF&S, but where are the settings that use them? Even Mongoose uses good old jump drive in their non-OTU "Traveller" settings. Look at "Hammers Slammers" for instance. Drake's descriptions of FTL there onl resemble jump drive in the broadest sense.

It can happen but it will depend on the rate of spin, how far the slow moving ammo has to move, and the orientation of the ammo's path with respect to the spin.

Citing mongoose as an example of best practices is like using Hanibal Lector's recipes for Food Network, or Sam Kinneson for Romantic Lead Roles... you can, but it just makes people who know what your on about laugh out loud at you.

And not a whit of this discussion has hinged on being OTU. Which, By the way, if you're going to cite Mongoose as authority, isn't even the default for their ruleset...

Believe me, I wouldn't cite Mongoose as authority for anything. I was pointing out that just because a technology is present in FF&S it doesn't necessarily follow that its "Traveller".

Alderson Drive may be in FF&S but that doesn't mean that Alderson Drive is "Traveller".

I think people have assumed it hinged on being the OTU, myself included. Of course we all know what happens when you assume.

Which, By the way, if you're going to cite Mongoose as authority, isn't even the default for their ruleset...

My point was that Mongoose, who supposedly believes "Traveller" is some generic sci-fi rules set, couldn't even bother to come up with an FTL drive for the "Slammers" setting despite the FTL drive and a great many other things in that setting being very different from the drive FTL and a great many other things in the OTU. And despite alternate FTL drives alreayd being present in the rules.

Of course Mongoose also couldn't even bother to come up with powergun rules for their "Slammers" setting.

My original point still remains that MiGE tech is not "Traveller" tech and gthat despite a few technologies being present in FF&S. There are simply too many differences.
