Book 2 '81 Starship Combat

I've recently had some questions put to me, and some old stuff from Marc, that I would like some help with.

There are some things that Book 2 is missing that are covered by Starter Traveller, or Mayday, or the Missiles in Traveller special supplement. Many of us have "filled in the gaps" over the years.

For example, I don't find anything in Book 2 that tells how a missile accelerates. I see that all ordance starts with the same vector of the launching ship, but then what?

Of course, the errata for "Missiles in Traveller" has the answer, which is, "the standard missile in Traveller is a 5G6 continuous burn, mass sensing, proximity detonator, high explosive warhead missile (all produced at their standard tech level), costing Cr5600 and massing 48 kg."

So I'm asking for some assistance tracking this down, with the results going into the Lost Rules supplement and the CT errata. Contact me at don.mckinney@gmail.com if you can help point me at stuff. Even if you don't know where it is, but you know the items, you can help me!
 
Is it in the missile special supplement in one of the JTAS?

SS3 says 5G5 not 5G6.

Mayday says 6G6 limited burn homing warhead, Cr5600.

ST says "as a ship with maneuver drive-6."
 
You need to look at the REVISED SS3 pdf... (and I need to add this to the errata document, ARRGH!)

For example, the standard missile in [FONT=Arial,Arial][FONT=Arial,Arial][FONT=Arial,Arial]Traveller [/FONT][/FONT][/FONT]is a 5G6 continuous burn (36 kg, Cr3,600, TL 8), mass sensing (1 kg, Cr1,000, TL 10), proximity detonator (1 kg, Cr500, TL 6), high explosive (10 kg, Cr500, TL 6) warhead missile (all produced at their standard tech level), costing Cr5,600 and massing 48 kg. This price does not take into account tech level effects. At TL 9, this missile costs Cr5,540; at TL 12, it costs Cr4,480.

How about we just create a missile design sequence along those lines, and rules for how they work, expenditure/reload, and cost to rearm (time and money). It seems to be headed that way, anyhow...

Special Supplement 3, "Missiles in Traveller" is exactly that.
