• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

CT Only: Book 2 vs Book 5 space combat. Choose the rules, the ACS, and post the battle.

The Gazelle has computer 6, while the Corsair has computer 2, so the same +/-4 will apply...
Could have sworn the COTI Corsair was Model/3 like the Type C, but apparently not.

No worries, he's going to be a bit upgunned to highlight some functions.

The S:4 ships are LBB:2 77 designs - note the lab ship has a smaller pp rating than its jump drive and only 10t of pp fuel.
There's a reason why some of us continue to assert that LBB2.77 is a "borken" system to build starships with (and thus tout the superiority of the LBB5.80 system instead).

And there is a reason why some of us stick with the paradigm of the 77 rules with regards to power plant only being tied to maneuver drive...
the LBB:5 system is just as flawed and has some serious paradigm shifts in it.

Played a lot of both, I find LBB 2 (TTB) is better for an RPG, and LBB 5 better as a war game. Last time I tried running HG2 at the table, the players balked, where last time I ran the TTB, it was pretty fun; 30 years ago it was the reverse. Things I have found though is that players really connect with ships having deck plans, sort after attacking that Type M, it's nice to have a plan for the boarding action (in both senses).
