Book 5 High Guard 1st edition

Does anyone have a first and second edition of Book 5, High Guard?
I just got one through an E-bay auction, but it is missing the first 12 pages of text, someone cut them out. How do those pages compair to those pages in the 2nd edition of Book 5? I see major diferences in the ship construction area, but am wondering what differences there are in character generation.

I've just compared the two and you'll be glad to know that the character generation in both editions is identical. It is only when you get to the Starships chapter that the two books diverge.
There are a few nice ideas in 1st edition IMHO and it is a shame that they were cut.
