Book 6 System Generation

Was the book 6 star system generator ever fully automated in software?

I found something called StarSys, but the software didn't run, and the small number of lookup tables held in CSV files suggest that it was only a subset of the rules.

Failing that, was there ever a system generation system that sat between the complexity of book 6 and the simplicity of book 3.

Rob Prior implemented it for PPC Macintosh. Very nicely. I wish he still did mac software.

StarSys does run because I used to use it, but you probably have to find an older version of Windows to run it on. I can't recall which one I used to use it on, but it was likley NT.

I have been playing with Heaven and Earth for a few days after reading about it on this post. It runs fine on a ME system, but will not work on my Vista system. I really like it but there are a few annoying bugs in it. The main one being when your main world is on a gas giant moon it gives you a map and description of the giant rather than the main world moon. Other than that is is great for giving you all the facts of a world. The only other fix is I wish is they would give you the option of temps in F instead of C.

Does not work on my Vista Windows either.

It would be nice if some charitable soul upgraded it to work under Vista, so us folks that can't afford an OS change could use it. :)

The original author was working on a new version some years back, but last I knew development was indefinitely suspended. I don't believe he had any intention of releasing the source code, though I could be misremembering.

Peter Trevor (aka Hemdian) is working on Traveller Universe 2.0, which if memory serves will incorporate system generation.

You might also want to post down in the Software Solutions forum for other suggestions.
