Well, one neat thing is that it solves one of the questions posed by 2300 maps about Brown Stars that may open up links between Sol and other clusters. Depending on where it lies (I need x-y-z coordinates being science deficient), adding it could certainly change up things in a 2320 game.
What is does for my game is allow me to invent a brown dwarf somewhere if it feeds a plotline opening up a new star somewhere or a whole new arm if I want one. IF these little devils are that hard to detect well it seems you could reasonbly conjure one up whenever you want one.
