Can Spacemaster do Traveller?

Found a lot of Rolemaster stuff rooting around in the house yesterday. I remembered the combat being fun, but the rest sucking. Got me thinking, has anyone adopted/tried SM combat for Traveller?

Easy way to spice up combat or nostalgia induced insanity that will pass after a sit down and a nice cup of tea*?

*I freaking love tea.

I remember cheerfully looting it for my CT campaigns..back when I had a room full of sci-fi gamers...but that is all I can remember this early, sorry!

Yeah, I've got several of the adventures and supplements, but I always converted to CT, not the other way around.

I found their adventures very easy to convert to CT, and the supplements had a very "CT" atmosphere to them. I'd use them too--to flesh out world politics and such.

The combat would be work-intensive to convert for Traveller, I would think - mainly because it's percentile based. You would have to figure out what bonus was achieved by each skill level (and in CT, it would be a huge bonus!). It also takes a bit longer to play than basic CT - a lot of rolls. Other than that, I loved RM/SM's combat! Some of the criticals were fabulous (though less funny in SM than the original RM).

I ran the OTU with it a few times. There is a tendency towards zapguns.

If you like RM, SM will run just like it, only in sci-fi.

Loved Space Master for creating other races

Plus the supplements made good adventures.

Hardly found anyone around here who would play SM but several did play Role Master. Lots and lots of books for RM.
