Canon Advice

Greetings fellow travellers!

I have a couple questions about Canon and the OTU. I have books 1-6, a few MT publications, and the new T20 book.

1) What is a good source for Canon (without spending alot of $$)? Are there any online resources that cover the history of the Imperium? I've looked around on the Internet and have seen some bits and pieces. I've seen several timelines, but I'm looking for something with a little more information, if it exists...

2) Can someone describe for me the hierarchy of the Imperium? Specifically, Who oversees a Sector, Subsector, etc. I am assuming (Dangerous, I know
) That an Archduke governs a Sector, and a Duke oversees a Subsector.

I appreciate any assistance given. Thank you, and happy Travelling...

For starters, if you look (I think this is right) under COTI Resources on this site (the Quiklink part) you will find a link to Library Data. This is a great resource. As to the specific question, an Archduke governs a domain (there are specific domains - I think you can find them in Library Data). Subsectors are ruled by dukes, with the most powerful being the sector duke (no change in feudal status, just power). Counts rule groups of 2-3 worlds, a marquis governs a system, and barons govern insignificant systems or worlds or parts of worlds.

I'd say MegaTraveller's 'Imperial Encyclopedia' and 'Referee's Companion' would do nicely to paint the general picture of things. At least, it did for me.

I believe they're both available at http://titangames.com/. The Imperial Encyclopedia is selling for a pretty reasonable price, too (around $8).

I have 'Imperial Encyclopedia' and also saw 'Referee's Companion' at a used bookstore. I'll have to pick up the latter. Thanks!!

Thanks TJ, I'm a regular searcher of Traveller on EBAY but missed the History of the Imperium. I'll have to look again. And don't worry, I'll save some $$ for Coffee Juice!!

And Daryen, I've been to your site as well. Lots of Great Info! Thanks!!

Speaking of canon...
Hey Daryen - The maps at JTAS.ORG ar wrong.
They leave out the Zhodani Rift, which is clearly visible on any canon map of the area. I brought this up on the Galactic Yahoo Group, and the consensus was to just delete the worlds shown on the Atlas map that are in the rift...
I don't know who generated the maps, but I just wanted to pass along that although cool, they are inaccurate...

Now that you mention it, there are other errors, too. Their Foreven (Iakr) sector is wrong, as is their Far Frontiers sector.

Oh well, maybe I shouldn't have included it. The big reason I still refer to it, is because I "steal" the maps. Those maps are where I got the basis for my Daryen, Sword Worlds, Arden and Florian maps.

I guess I need to be sure to include another one or two of the Atlases on the web. Gotta go find 'em again ...

Here's three more with extensive Atlases:
AB's Atlas of Charted Space
Map of Known Space
Traveller in the DED Zone

Finally, there is one more site that actually lets you search based on planet name or planet feature! I just can't remember the name or URL. I am sure someone will come along and remind me ...
