Carrier and Battle Rider Designs

Well, I was posting a bunch in my other thread, than realised I was sort of off topic

so I will post my designs here instead

Jon Miller

Here is Battle Rider F-1

tech 15

2000 ton chasis
-1000 ton meson gun (-900 EPs)
-340 tons of 6G drive (-120 EPs)
-40 tons of bridge
-14 tons of crew support (24 hours only)
-560 tons of fusion plan (+1120 EPs)
-10 tons of fuel (enough for 12 hours of operation)
-9 tons for model number 9 sensor, communications, avionics, and computer (don't know if I need all of this) (-12 EPs)
-3 tons for an airlock
10 triple turrents

remaining tons = 24
unsused EPs = 88

suggested weaponery
30 fusion guns (4 tons left, 28 EPs left)
12 PAs, 18 Missile Racks (6 tons left, 28 EPs left)
or some mix (since the low armor, I would recommend long range weapons)

Here is the Carrier F-1 Prototype A

+100,000 ton chasis
1,600 factors of armor = -1,600 tons (15 Armor rating)

10 launch facilities
60,000 tons of fuel
1000 hardpoints (probably mostly used with sandcasters and other light weapons, defensive, or maybe not at all unless I am screwing up on the tonnage somewhere)
crew of 280 (For the Riders)+20 (Mechanics)+22 (Officers)+50 (Petty Officers) +111 (Engineering)+3 (Medical Crew)+300 (Service Crew)
2 Airlocks (-6 tons)

Here is Battle Rider D-1

tech 15

2000 ton chasis
-1000 ton meson gun (-700 EPs)
-90 tons of 2G drive (-40 EPs)
-40 tons of bridge
-14 tons of crew support (24 hours only)
-750 tons of fusion plant (+750 EPs)
-12 tons of fuel (enough for 8 hours of operation)
-7 tons for model number 7 sensor, communications, avionics, and computer (don't know if I need all of this) (-7 EPs)
-3 tons for an airlock
10 triple turrents

remaining tons = 84
unsused EPs = 3

I think it could be done better than this

maybe armor or more power plant could be added

weapons should be missiles, probably

Jon Miller

sounds good,

sounds very simular to the BZ battleship-Battlecarrier combo found in "Fighting ships of the Shattered Imperium" MT source book.

A 2000T ship with a spinal mount though. Yikes!!!
looks like we here at the ship yards will have to get to work again.

Except for your first example. I can let pass the missiles not using any energy points, but the particle accelerators? I don't think so...

I note there is no meson screen, nuclear damper, or armor. Interesting. I wonder how survivable they are?

The 5000T LAC that I posted is scary enough.
You know if I cut the fuel I could fit in those 2 other points of armor. Hmmm!

The use of minimal fuel and lifesupport is quite interesting. I'm not sure I'd want to go into battle in one, though. What if I have to evade to escape? What if I have to wait longer than 12 hours before the battle and the tender can't stop by? I think some of the spare space should be devoted to more fuel.

The design is far better in T20 than in HG2, though, with the radical power of even the smallest meson spinal mount.

My question about survivability was real, however . . .

J-6 on the Tender is a nice touch, but gives it far more mobility than the rest of the fleet. If we're going for cheap, wouldn't smaller and less expensive be better?
