Celestia and Google Earth

Wouldn't it be great if these 2 programs could be integrated? Imagine, you could zoom from outside the galaxy down to an aerial photo of your neighborhood.

For alien worlds how about integrating Celestia and MojoWorld?

I did half of that for you - my map site is the Traveller equivalent of Google Earth for the Charted Space, down to the parsec level:

I pondered going down to the icosahedron-map level for the worlds, but below parsec-level there just isn't enough data out there, so it'd be almost completely random.

The creator of Celestia (Chris Laurel) is a friend and former co-worker of mine; should you decide to spin a Traveller Universe mod of that I might be able to arrange some cross-links. (E.g. use the 2D map site to zoom down to a parsec, then click a hyperlink to launch Celestia)

Wow, nice site Joshua!
Thank's for the link.

That would be a dream come true

I've been using Celestia to draw lots of Space Pics...
To have it intertwined with a Galactic database would be the ultimate :D

Nice pics Berg!
Looks like you are using Terragen for the surface pics. I have done for my Traveller campaign too. Did you put the ship in the orbit pictures with photoshop, or is that a model setup in Celestia?

Terragen for surface pics, PlanetGen to create surfaces for use in Celestia. All slightly modified in post production w/PSP ;)

The model is a Mr Scarecrow production ;)

Look for his and a Mr Andrew Boulton's models made available in the "Traveller Art Thread"

Such generous people abound in the Traveller Universe :D
I feel like I have a membership in the Traveller's Aid Society ;)
