Both types of combat walkers are vehicles, and resist damage the same way. Humanoid walkers, with their exo-skeletal control system, effectively get a bonus by being able to react as infantry rather than vehicles. I'll make sure that there is a note to this effect in the rules.
So yeah, that makes humanoid walkers extremely tough infantry.
As a side note, the term battlesuit in 2300/2320 refers to a full-body, unpowered suit of rigid armour. Such a suit may have some augmentation to help with the weight of the armour, but nothing like the 24 Strength of a BH-24.
