CT and Experience

Tis a good point, Fritz my boy. Tis a good point.

I will adjust for this as I develop the rules.

As for age...maybe No. of terms can be a penalty modifier on throws? That way, older characters will not succeed as often as newer characters.

We could use No. of terms and Experience score to hinder rolls (older characters and those who's total skills exceed INT + EDU will have penalty DMs on advancement).

How about that?

Hmmmm. My only concern with terms is it doesn't take into account the different aging rates of different races. (I will admit my work with the T5 racegen rules is influencing this.) Aslan begin their aging roles at a different age than humans, and they have to roll every Aslan year. (Their terms are 8 standard years, though - so I don't know that this doesn't come out as a wash. Or maybe that makes it worse....)

Maybe for UGM, you cold add a step of difficulty for each change in the aging rolls. So, age 34 (or wherever, for aliens) is the first aging roll for humans, and would up the difficulty of adding a skill or attribute. Then, the next difficulty jump would come at 50, where the numbers for aging go up. Then, at 66, where you add in INT....

Oh, one other disadvantage to the term issue is the inconsistency. You wouldn't normally use those DMs during chargen, though they should begin during the second term. You actually do use the aging rolls during chargen (though they don't normally limit skill progression).

All good thoughts.

There is much more brain-storming afoot in Experience-land, folks.

I'm going to keep chewing on this. Maybe I'll come up with something good.
