D20 and T20

are the rulesets for these two identical ?

the reason I ask, I have the Future Armada PDF for the Exeter and the Morgan-class shuttle stats are listed in it.

the shuttle has a "Tactical Speed" of 3500 feet. How long are turns for vehicles in D20 or T20 ?

I'm trying to figure out it's speed or see how it compares to some Traveller small craft.

No they are not identical at all. Particularly with regard to vehicle and ship combat.

Hi there,

I have all of the Future Armada stuff. They are well done. The ship stats are just a tiny part of it. you can just recreate them in T20.

I have not done it as I am still looking for a space combat system that has my flavor with use of miniatures. :) I may use a hybrid of several different ones but space combat is tough to model with miniatures.

The D20 Modern/Future method of dealing with vehicles and starships owes a fair amount to Alternity, though thankfully not all of it (Alternity had issues). T20's ship handling is strongly High Guard derived, but clearly a D20 rendition of it.

As for ship combat with minis, SH, have you looked at Power Projection? I'm also a long-time Mayday fan, but it's mix of hexes and vector seem to confuse people. In an interesting case of temporaly-displaced parallel evolution, the Galactic Knights game from Monday Knight Productions also uses hex-vector, and he tells me he's never heard of Mayday...

Okey-dokey, I'll just choose an existing Traveller small craft that fits the bill and use that.

Any one know how long a D20 movement round is for a vehicle such as a spacecraft "3500 feet" ?

Under basic small ship/starship combat each round is 20 minutes.

Advanced combat rules each round is 10 minutes at the strategic plot level or 30 seconds on the tactical plot.

In Traveller, yes.

In d20 Future (or all other d20 games made by WotC), a round is always 6 seconds.

Since it looks like Future Armada stuff is designed for d20 Future, the round is 6 seconds long. So the shuttle can travel 3500 feet in 6 seconds.

D20 Future is extremely weak in terms of ship design and combat, best to ignore the D20 stats and create your own T20 version of the ship in question.
