Further reading indicates the production models will have either a turbine or piston engine onboard for power. That means OSHA won't allow them inside buildings in the US, but they'll be lots of fun outside.

Micropower is a big area of research for the army at the moment, and not just for this. Fuel tanks weigh immensely less than batteries for the same amount of deliverable energy, so if you can make a nice compact engine to go along with it you can cut the weight significantly. As modern soldiers use more electronics their battery requirements are going up, and it's becoming a problem.
