Do we need a Miniature fourm?

Should there be a dedicated miniatures section, on this board?

We could have a sticky listing alternative miniature, with a painting and gallery area. I know, it will be a little anemic at first, but it’s really hard to talk to freelance miniature artist about the potential market for 15mm and 28mm miniatures, without a modicum of support. There is also this gulf, or at least a failure to communicate between the miniaturists and gamers community. Normally this is breached by the licensing mechanic, but Traveller has no such agency working for it currently, so we need to do our own and drum up support.

I wouldn't mind having one either. I'm not an expert, but I could use advice from same.

See, I just acquired this 25mm K'Kree... it's awesome, and yet it's not by Grenadier (I think)... so what on earth is it?

No, it's not from MegaMinis (blecchh).

On Miniature forum

I think that just using the Traveller Wargame or Lone Star for right now is fine.

If there is more traffic in minatures then Please go ahead and make one.

Well it’s a wargame forum, and you can play then with miniatures or not. I for one would not necessary look in a wargame section for miniatures, or painting FAQ.
After all, some people, are proud they don’t use miniatures in RPGs, I for one, like them and I’m very passionate about painting them. I would like to share as other would, I’m sure, but it’s not my board.

I'll add my vote for a separate forum being a nice idea. More so than some of the forums ;) (it's a joke, I kid... )

I'd like to say it's because I have a mton of minis to show off, but, well I do, they just aren't for the most part ready for showing :(

...it'd be nice to have a place to show them off, if I got organized, motivated, and found some time to work on them. Sure I could post them to my Travellog, but who reads that (especially when I've let it sit idle so long ;) )

Anyway, it'd be a good, cool, forum idea imo. How much it'd get used I can't guess, but without it there's no way to know and miniature stuff will continue to be posted helter skelter in different forums, Travellogs, and the Imperial Museum Art Gallery. Not saying it's a bad thing exactly, just a bit disorganized.

I'm rambling, time for bed but for one more post...

I'd like a minis forum. It's a subject that gets lost in The Lone Star, and since they get used in the wargames as well as all the incarnations of the RPG I think it justifies being broken out.

As it stands, I have no idea where I would put a thread about minis. If there was a mini forum, it would be a no brainer.
(ha! I knew I had an older account!)

I'd love a minis forum. I'm not much of a wargamer, but minis bring out the "big slugfest space battle lust" in me.

I figured that was for discussing wargames, whether they are used with minis or not. While I love minis, and I love wargames, I'm not much of a miniatures wargamer, so I see the two as being distinct.

I thought that this was what the Wargames section was for.

Yeah, but maybe it'd be clearer to me if the section said "Wargames and Miniatures"? (But maybe 'wargames' presumes miniatures... that's what you're saying right?)

The wargames section traffic is really light anyway.

Just change the name to Wargames and Miniatures.

Yeah, I could get behind that.

"Traveller Wargames and Miniatures" : Discussion of various Traveller Wargames and Miniatures

(dropping the "systems" bit which means only rules used for miniatures used in wargames)

Is that within the power of the moderators?

Well ... it's what I'd figured; it's where I've posted what miniatures stuff I've linked to.
