Do we need a Miniature fourm?

Should there be a dedicated miniatures section, on this board?

We could have a sticky listing alternative miniature, with a painting and gallery area. I know, it will be a little anemic at first, but it’s really hard to talk to freelance miniature artist about the potential market for 15mm and 28mm miniatures, without a modicum of support. There is also this gulf, or at least a failure to communicate between the miniaturists and gamers community. Normally this is breached by the licensing mechanic, but Traveller has no such agency working for it currently, so we need to do our own and drum up support.
SURE!

Note we have big book of Geomorphs on the FarFutpure site already for 15mm.
it might be a place for deckplans and tiles made by fans to be shown off.

My worthless .20 ImpCr; minis have not become impressive until the last 20 years, in my opinion. Would it not make more sense to start a thread in the Stryker section?

p.s. I never bought any Traveller minis back in the day because I thought they were awful. I really like SJ Games cardboard minis that came with their deck plans.

Stryker is a pretty useless combat vehicle

Striker is the minis game.

Had a quick look in one of the storage areas: I have a lot more magic cards than I remembered.

Couldn't find them, but I think it was Darth, Luke, Leia, maybe some Stormtroopers and some Rebel crewmen, the ones that managed to escape onboard the Tantive Four, I would presume; so likely a starter kit.

The Travellers are likely a squad of Imperium Marines, since they have the same distinctive helmet as the Rebel crewmen; they might have had some antagonists.

Hi
In 15mm minis you have
Ground Zero Games - UNSC/H Hardsuit Marines for Imp. Marines

Darkest Star Games - Venturian Lift Infantry for Zhodani
Eureka Miniatures USA- 15mm Ventauran are a great add on to the Darkest Star ones.

For Vargr there are a few
Darkest Star Games- Garrhul
Khurasan Games- Raug
RAFM - War hounds of Sirius (these are around the best size wise)

For Aslan
RAFM- Car Leonis Warriors (but they are kind of short)
Khurasan Games- Felid Warriors (more Tiger like)

Alternative Armies- Laserburn Centalon for K'kree

RAFM- Dracos Warriors for Droyne

And most have Adventurers in some form
Alternative Armies- Laserburn and other ranges have a lot of minis (most you can buy one figure of the ones you want)
RAFM- Crewmen & Space Vixens
Ground Zero Games- has a lot of different ranges you can use.

Rebel Minis has a lot of cool minis in 15mm also

I won’t argue that.
Striker is the minis game.
Yes. Though Snapeshot and AHL also fall into that category high the Various jTas articles.

In conversations over the years both Stargrunt2 and Dirtside are Traveller miniatures games as well as Jon wrote them to game Traveller. Note Fullthrust falls in the category as well.

I'm familiar with both; they're not quite consistent with Traveller tech. Nor is Full Thrust. They're good, and they're close, and the inspirations are obvious...

And Power Projection is pretty much not consistent with FT, either; the mass listed in FT is in 10 metric tons per MASS unit; that's not the scale PP was set at. (I'm not digging out my copy of PP:E, but it cannot handle ACS very well. Traveller's BCS are MUCH bigger overall than the ships of FT's Fleet Books.)

Much the same way, there's this interesting coincidence... GW had been hyping their forthcoming Traveller minis rules, then GDW pulled their (and most everyone's) licenses... and suddenly, they announced Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.

Another game that looks strongly Traveller inspired is Alternative Armies' Firefight. Whether that's via 40K or not isn't clear.

THe thing is, none of them are direct drop in replacements; each has grown away from Traveller in is own direction. All of their minis lines, tho', can be used in Traveller without issue...

While the focus of the comments appears to be mainly on human and other intelligent species in Traveller, the are also very good sources for other types of miniatures. Safari Limited has a very wide range of good quality miniatures in the various Toob collections, ranging from dinosaurs to modern wildlife to fantasy creatures and figures, All of these would be very usable for Sword of Cepheus, Rider, Space: 1889, and other games based in earlier eras. Wild Republic also produces Toobsm including space ones, while Hobby Lobby is now producing its own line of animal miniatures. A trip to either Michael's or Hobby Lobby should be quite productive. If I can, and it is allowed, I will try to post some images of my purchases. I hope to use them for miniatures gaming, plus I like collecting them. I will try to make up a list of miniatures tues that would be very useful for Independence Games Rider miniature game.
