Electronic sights

If only it didn't look like a remote control.

I tried to change channels and blew up my tv

No rangefinder yet. You have to dial in the estimated range. Then the scope makes all the required corrections. A LR should be an easy add on.

In the US Army (Circa 1982) we had a laser range finder that was either hand held or tri pod mountable.
(About the size of a pair of binoculars)

I wonder if the size has significantly scaled down since then?

Latest version that go out to 1000 yards can be as small as a pack of cards, and that includes optics that could be part of the scope. Swarovski made a scope that had a built in range finder several years ago. It was big, expensive and never popular.

The technology continues to advance.

Now, to combine the Elcan, the Swarovski and the AN/PVS-10 and we'll have the Traveller electronic sight.

Note the handy output jack, suitable for helmet displays. The XM29/XM25's sight has TI, a laser range finder, and ballistic computer.
