Far Future gadgets (and toys for the rich)

For changing appearance I came up with Biogenetic
Alteration, a.k.a. the Chameleon Effect. The sentient undergoes a series of chemical & nanobot treatments making their body mutable. For alteration, then DNA programmed nanobots are injected for the proper alteration of skin color & texture, hair changes, eye color, cartilage, scars, etc. The alteration takes at least 24 hours to safely undergo the processor to reverse it.. A DNA marker can also be added to disguise your DNA signature. I would say at least TL12.
 
Another nice toy is the Star Skimmer, a solar sail space version of the gravboard where you manuver with controls built into special vacc suit gloves. Think of racing through the void on these babies. Of course a duel between star skimmer pilots might be interesting.

That might need different mugs that produce different flavors at TL 10.

Maybe TL 12 would have the mugs that produce various flavors and temperatures.

Course we would.
Heck, we would have something before TL 9 I would say.
Higher TL's would just make them smaller and give them greater cappacity.
(Kind of like a pocket micro brewery) :D
 
Well if the reknowned TU TL-13 Portable Fusion still is any meter-stick of making just water from other materials chucked into it, then an alcoholic distillery (portable) cannot too be far from reckoning.

Specialized, to ferment and distill to alcohol those edible organic materials that can be rendered potable alcohol (why make wood alcohol to drink? Poison your neighbors, drive them blind? get yourself run out off world just ahead of the pitchfork & torches mob? Nah)

But in the theme of the thread, I'd say with fusion power at TL9 becoming common (small enough to power G-carriers, airrafts) then the portable alcohol still at TL-C, the step behind the previous mentioned one above. Making it pocket sized...TL-E or F is my guess, at -30% size of the TL-C version, and of course, reduced output.

The physics of such distilling is generally 10/1. You get 1 part product for ten parts materials, leaving 9 parts waste remaining.
(yes, I homebrew, ferment, etc, and have black sheep relatives still beeing sought by 'Revenuer's, location witheld ;)

One of my relative (Back during the pohibition days) made something called "Cherry Bounce".
It was a poduct of the fermentation of the cherries from his orchard (in the hills of North Carolina).

I suppose the fusion still could produce a wide variety of products dependant on what was put into it. ;)

"Cherry Bounce" sounds grand :D --better than "Strawberry Surprise" (the surprise being, there's no strawberry anything in it!) :eek:

Perhaps like "Everclear" by way of fewer impurities.

Don't tell Trader Jim that.
He could turn it into another chase across the galaxy trying to evade the revenuer's.
it was bad enough with his Thunder Chicken Juice or whatever he called his version of CoffeeJuice.

(Mine was using the maketing slogan "Choosy people choose StarChucks CoffeeJuice") :D
 
How about using grav plate technology to restrict/hold prisoners?

A Bio-mass conversion still for converting trees, grass, etc. to edible (and preferably tastey) food for humans? (to go along with our beverage still). :D
 
Now some medical questions...
Patches to help you do stuff.

1) Anesthetic patch placed next to a wound that numbs an area but does not affect the minds ability.

2) A patch to help stimulate thinking.

3) A patch to help stimulate and prolong sexual activity on humans.

4) A patch to help calm your nerves but not make you drowsy.

5) Alcohol patches which dissolve in your mouth (like Listerine patches do now)

Are there others you can think of?

And its related patch to sober one up. I can see both and the previous two used a lot


Since anagathics were in the original LBB's, I suppose those could be delivered via injections, patches or pills, variable by TL. Take your pick.

On a non-medical use, I like the idea of clothing that controls temperature. (or has this been thrown out before?).
 
Wow. I wonder if the alcohol/soberup patches and the sexual activity/contraception patches would have any unpleasant drug interactions? Hee hee.

Also, don't forget the "Exudes extra sexual pheremones" patch/spray. For when you need that extra little 'boost' to your game.
