Fighter Stats and Design for CT?

Mako

SOC-12
I don't recall seeing any info on Fighters, in the CT Starships LBB, or in others, other than in passing, but admit to just skimming it a bit.

IIRC, I think most fighters are in the 10 - 20 ton class.

Are there design rules, and/or other stats info for Fighters, in the Classic Traveller rules, and/or in some of the supplement books?

I'm curious about stats for them, especially the number of lasers, particle beams, and missiles they can carry, as well as info on maneuverability, endurance, etc..

I suppose I could just come up with some generic stats, giving them one or two beam weapons each, and perhaps one to four missiles each, or so as well. Also interested in search sensors, and pilot endurance for them too.

I tried a little searching here, but haven't run across much, and my search for "fighters" failed - said there was no listing.

I'm interested in planet-based, or orbital station-based, star system defense fighters, as well as perhaps some carried by other vessels too.

Any good fighter examples available here, or on other sites, and/or is there a good set of design rules/restrictions for CT, or some of the other follow-on rules variants for them?

P.13 of Supplement 5, Azhanti High Lightning has the USPs for the 15-ton RF-128 and RF-128-2 Rampart fighters.

P. 26 of Supplement 9, Ships of the Fleet, has the USP for a 50-ton heavy fighter.

Most of the CT LBB2 small craft can be re-purposed to being 'fighters'; there was a thread a while ago about how the 6g ship's boat could make an excellent fighter since you can get a bigger computer in it.

You can design fighters using LBB5.

LBB2 has a 10 ton fighter, its very minimalist. 6G, M/1 computer, 1 laser or 3 missiles or 3 sandcasters. Better off using HG to build your own.

10 ton fighters are your cheap but pretty ineffective patrol vessels due to the lack of computer size.

Larger fast small craft allow the potential for dual use vessels and possibly larger computers making them more effective (eg: Ships boat).

Imperial combat standard is 50 ton fighters, they fit into the standard 50 ton launch tubes. With much larger computers than your typical merchant (model 6 versus model 1), these will kick PC butt...

The LBB2 10t fighter isn't a very good fighter, I think of it more as an extra mobile turret for the mothership. Use the 1t spare to upgrade the computer to a 2bis and you can just about make a combat capable craft.

The 20t 6g gig (variant of the 20t launch introduced in S:7) and 30t 6g ships boat are much better since they have more room for the computer needed to run the software needed for combat.
