Fleshing it out (Details!!)

I'm avoiding too much detail thus far b/c my preference on the fleshing out tables would be so many entries as to reach a d100. These are the uniqueness tables and need a lot of variety. That's why I was thinking of single-attribute descriptions. Your additions are great edits to them, too!

Thankye sir! just adding a few of the singletons together for an overall picture (like the Junkport!).

Here are more:
*nerve-racking creaking sounds

*very powerful draft (a wind, really) blows through the highport from time to time

*neon purple paint and psychadelic tie dye patterns in station.

The sounds one--YEAH! (be a great one to add to Junk port or even one of the others..); visually the pyschedelic paint..ooh.lovely!!<grins> " Far out maaaaan!, Like dude..wow, which place did we park the ship maaan?"
LOL..
The wind thingy..nice touch--sight sound touch and feel into words guys! things the player will remember! Good stuff mythmere!

highport adapted to local humaniti:
high/low temperature
tainted atmosphere or thin atmosphere

?did I do these already?

knee deep in water (I can't figure out how to justify this, but it would be cool in a highport)

Why is it that after reading the last several"posts" I see a vision of the Russian Space Station in Armenggendon with Bruce Willis, Pipes hanging out with gas leakes, everthing on the very EDGE of BLOWING!!!...very narrow passage ways, with electrical sparks flying everywhere!!! ;)

*Sparks flying occaisionally, confusion/ profusion of pipes and wire cables hanging downwards..
--thanks TJ! ;)

Table 4 unique features(good air)

1. Starport is in a coniferous-style dry forest. When the wind blows, the trees make a whooshing sound not unlike that made by a huge, local winged predator...

2. Starport has open arched buildings, very few walls.

3. Starport has a number of competing vendors selling pressure-sealed "Sector's Best Air" canisters, containing a sample of the world's air. More expensive canisters actually provide a few minutes of air (in case of dire emergency).

4. As above, except the samples are of random quality, enhanced with perfumes, hallucinogens, etc.

5. Starport is in the midst of a dense, humid jungle. Manual laborers regularly slash the overgrowth away to keep it from absorbing the compound.

6. Starport is designed as a villa, with tiled patios, quiet nooks for conducting 'business', pretty flowering trees, and very expensive hotels. A rich-tourist (and crime syndicate) haven.

7. Starport is situated on broken terrain, whose convection currents make it popular among 'grav surfers'.

8. Starport is made up of all sorts of different buiding sizes and styles, obviously added on over the decades (or centuries) as the budget permitted. Related sections might have covered walkways between them.

9. Starport has many booths selling "local flora" in small containers.

some of my ideas-based on Terrain dictating..

10.-Starport lies in desert terrain, with sunken pits/ tunnels, and facilities are mostly built cooler underground save for those that must remain above ground for Traffic control purposes.
[think SW-Tatooine/ Tunisia]

11.-As above, save the *desert* is a windswept barren plateu [rocky mesa's & arroyo's everywhere-think Grand canyon, AZ, NM]

12.- As in the above, save desert is an arctic but breathable world! [perpetual Winter]

13.- Ice world/breathable, but due to permafrost, structures are built above ground on pylons 1meter, to allow the heat escaping off them not to cause settling/ building sinking.

14.- Water world, the structures float, and are linked together (may be raised on high like oil derricks or man-made buildings floating atop surface.

15.-As above, but is submergeable in foul weather, like a vast submarine into the shallow sea. [submergable Starports like those alluded to in Path of tears on Berkin/Shenk/Old Expanses]

16.- As above, but structure starts on sea bed floor and protrudes above surface. [Think Sitah/later called Renj in TNE, Old Expanses P-subsector]

17.-Starport is along planet's equatorial lines, but in savanna setting not jungle terrain. Vast Grasslands surround it. Scattered buildings, and covered walkways from seasonal rains.

18.-As above, port is built over marshland/ estuary, with canals, and moving/ raising bridges for water craft traffic and access. [think Venice with moving bridges]

19.-port is built in the vale of a tarn [glacier formed lake] and doubles as a Ski resort in the winter locally. [Aspen, CO/ Switzerland?]

20.-port built on tropical island paradise in warm equatorial sea.[Fiji/Bali/Hawaii/ etc]

how's those for examples?

Table 2 unique features(TL 7-)
1 grazing animals occasionally wander onto the landing areas (in bad air or vaccuum, reroll)
2 cargo cults often gather outside the starport trying to make starships land by waving flags and talking into carved-wood walkie-talkies
3 cargo cults worship the starcraft, and can make a nuisance of themselves
4 Luddites (technophobes of any stripe filled in here)are a serious threat to station security (they must be visible to the players in some way, either picketing or sneaking around with hammers)
5 Station buildings are all made from logs (shellacked by the TL 12 SPA)
6 Carvings of your ship are made from wood or stone by local artisans while you wait.
7 station security ride horses or other riding beasts
8 starport fronts on seaport with tall ships or steamers

9.-due to climate (hot) all structures are built below ground to avoid searing midday heat.
10.-Underground storage in natural salt mines adjacent to starport.
11.-Ancient/old ziggurat structures long looted by tomb raiders now used a massive warehousing [any climate terrain]
12.-Starport adjacent to large navigable river/body of water, barges, sampans, sailcraft available for cargo moving [no roads]- works for marsh, or water worlds
13.-Port set on plateau or mountain top, large airships and cable cars used to ferry goods down off the montain/ plateau top.
14.-Primitive ice world, utilizes many small dogsleds (or other domesticated beast of burden for climate/atm)from taxis, to moving goods unloaded from larger container pods.

some examples...anyone else?
