Forms version of TAS2.pdf

ACK!!

SOC-12
I have created a forms version of the TAS2.pdf.

All I did was edit the pdf and add forms. Nothing fancy or special and I added checkbox fields when appropriate.

It is a form. This means that you can add information and print the form with the character information inside the fields.

Hold on, but that does not mean that you can save the pdf with the form data unless you have Acrobat Professional.

TAS2

Lets see how long before I exceed my bandwidth.

Hehee. ;)

Pretty cool. As the poor sap who created those PDF's in the first place, I'm planning to eventually add the same inertactive [whoa: inertactive? I meant interactive] capability to all of the forms - I just need to get my hands on the right version of Acrobat, or figure out how to generate the PDF's programmatically.

What's alarming is that the addition of the interactive form fields appears to increase the file size by a factor of almost 25! What gives?

Beats me. Form bloat?

Each one of the UPP and homeworld UWP boxes are its own form field.

That might do it.

The forms shouldn't take up that much space. Looking at the PDF I suspect the fonts were embedded, which I avoided (since I made sure to use a generic font, Arial I think). You might want to try fiddling with the Save As parameters so it doesn't embed the fonts - this will at least save you some bandwidth.

Seems like the font size changes depending upon which box you're filling out. It goes from small for the date to large in the retirement pay.
Just wanted let you know.

Ooops sometime auto font size makes the text very, very large. So I manually tooled down most of the fields.

Let me know if I missed any others.

I put a new version up.

Also, I changed all fonts to generic Arial but it is still like 415KB. Frickin' huge.

Try the PDF optimizer / reduce file size options and tweak some of the settings perhaps if you haven't already done so. Just make sure it doesn't strip the forms and older Acrobat Reader compatibility away though. ;P

That and you may want to submit for the elibrary here to save you some bandwidth and have it more generally accessible.

Thanks! (right click | save as - whirr)

Yeah!!! The pdf optimizer did it.

42kb as opposed to 415kb

Huge diff.

Thanks everyone!
