PS- thanks to saundby for unwittingly goading me into doing this. :D

That's friggin' brillant. I see now there's going to be a web series called "I Hit It With My Ax', where ⌧ stars play D&D. Makes me wonder why I still play Traveller.

I tried to check it out. I'm assuming the massive influx of would-be viewers caused the site to crash. Or maybe the DM just needed a fluffer. ;)

"I Hit It With My Halberd" would be more Traveller.

Available for purchase at "Ye Oldde Game Shoppe".

p.s. sorry, that line's been used before, but I thought it fit perfectly here. :)

Ya know, my first Traveller character was a Scout armed with a laser carbine and a broadsword. We all came from D&D and we all used swords a lot more back then in Traveller than guns. Or at least it never seemed out of place. After all, a broadsword or halberd isn't a bad weapon for use against battledress, and that's the +5 plate of Traveller.

This one lacks the zest of Monsters & Treasure. Maybe it's me or maybe Traveller's original classy, understated artwork doesn't mesh well with the crude design and ass-bad artwork of OD&D. Let the critics decide. :p

I love it!

The art on the first cover is perfect! It reminds me of the suits I used to see in the books i read as a kid.

Maybe the starship needs a bit more of the "Willy Ley" look to it, rather than the 70's cleanline look? Still brilliant stuff, however.

Makes me glad I posted my gag--I'm never sure how my own attempts at humor are going to come across.

ETA:

Nah, the ship itself is fine, on second look. Perhaps make the line weight a little heavier around the outline of it?

Does this make Mercenary and High Guard the Arduin Grimoire and Grayhawk of the LBB's?

I'd think SMC (Spinward Marches Campaign - not an LBB though) would be more the Greyhawk wouldn't it?

EDIT: Ah! The first Greyhawk publication! Not the Greyhawk Gazetter(?). Right, yeah, that could be more like the LBB4-7.

Yeah, that would be more like Greyhawk. Or Blackmoor.

And some of the adventures could be analogues to the Misty Ilse, etc...

:D
Me, I'd say Greyhawk followed by Blackmoor, I guess. I'd put he Arduin Grimoire, as wonky as it is, on the same level as the Paranoia Press stuff.

Too bad there was never a Traveller equivalent of the Fiend Folio. Or maybe we should count our blessings there wasn't.

These are extremely cool! Thanks, OO!

You're very welcome! Glad to see something that started out as a dumb joke in a chatroom get appreciated like this. :D

Point of clarification for those unfamiliar with the old LBBs or JTAS. The artwork I used came from the following (in the order I used them)-

The iconic Space Cowboy, Adventure 1
The Kinunir, Adventure 1
Kudebeck's Gazelle, JTAS #2

Credit where it's due and all that. ;)
