Free Adventure Playtest

Ok, thanks for the input! I've updated the adventure file (most of the changes are in the first 3 pages).

I gave a bit more explaination as to why it took so long for Edward to be rescued, and I tried give a bit more explaination of how Charles can to be in the position he is in and the whole 5-year wait period.

Let me know what you think of the changes.

The changes look fine.

I still think that the relationship between Edward's province and the planetary government is pertinent. It certainly would come up with the group I run.

I also still think that it is generally a Bad Thing to have what is effectively "the Patron" along on an adventure.

Other than that it looks fine.

I am running the adventure now with my players. One question that came up was why not just land at the starport, make a call to "El Presidente" (The current ruling dictator of the planet) and tell her that Edward is back and he needs some military escort home. After all, Edward had his Governor for Life position at the pleasure of the ruling dictator.

I gave the explanation that Edward wouldn't do that simply for the fact that the world government, a dictatorship with provincial governors executing the will of said dictator, was one based on power and respect of power. If Edward went whining to the world leader, it would show him to be weak to the one person who needs him to be strong and to take care of such petty matters internally.

Just as a note, my players had Edward and Taylor in a Grav sled and decided to make a try at getting out of Downport and head overland. Once they left and entered the startown, two black speeders followed them and when the players tried to turn off into the less traveled area. The speeders tried to force their Grav sled down, but the players rammed their sled into a speeder, and flew back to the starport. A little gunfire from the speeders convinced the party to get weapons. One of the Psi characters was able to convince the pilots that they went "thatta way" and they got back to the starport safely.

They got their ATV out(the sled was damaged) and rented one speeder. The other Psi character Teleported back to their ship a couple times and stocked the ATV with weapons. This time, they got out of the city and into the tundra before 4 speeders came and attacked. A chase ensued, and the speeders were suprised to see laser carbines being deployed from the ATV. The speeder the players rented was used to shoot from and force other speeders around. Lots of gunfire ensued, lots of SI was damaged, and the 4 light speeders either crashed or disenguaged. Once gone, they moved a wounded character from the rented speeder to the ATV and put Howard on and sped ahead to the redezvous at Basil's. The ATV has a 4 - 5 day journey ahead of them. That's where we stopped for the night.

I had the province that the starport was on be totally separate from that of the province that Howard is Governor of. The distance to Basil's is around 3500km as the crow flies, and like 4800km via road. I have a nice map I started in Fractal Terrains, ported over to CC2 and populated with cities and labels and all that good stuff. If anyone would like a copy of the CC2 file I have going for the world map of Liar's Oath I'd be happy to email it to them.

Overall, fun little side adventure so far. Thanks again Hunter.
