Been involved in roleplaying games and war-gaming since childhood... but that for me means early nineties. Was introduced to Traveller during a "retro" gaming day at the comic store and was hooked. Decades before Firefly, I was captain of the Free Trader Vidarr (named after the Norse god of vengeance, I was fourteen at the time
) and leading a lovable band of rogues on adventures and bad trading speculation 
After university, I lost the time & contacts to indulge in my geeky vice. Just over a decade later my eldest son asks me to run some games for him. Combine that with having received the Honor Harrington series for Christmas and we skipped past the D&D 4th Edition (MMO with dice
) straight to the Mongoose Traveller PDF's.
Of course, then I saw the Kickstarter for and had to get in on that and eagerly awaiting the delivery (sadly next year now).
For what it's worth, I'm a computer nerd for a living (GIS software development for iOS/Android) and so it's almost guaranteed that I'll be putting together something to make my Traveller games easier. I'll put what I can up for everyone to use
